I have been trying to increase my bit inventory to the Detail Drop down list, e.g., I have a ballnose that I would like to see in the Drop down list. I see others asking the same question. I have not seen a solution am I missing something?

Wow, I was about to ask the same question. I paid for PRO, eagerly went to create a 1/4 in ballnose. Went back to the design to find it wasn’t in the list and there seemed no means to pull it into the list. That is not at all intuitive, so not a bug but a poor design.
I noticed the “cutting settings” under “PRO+ADD BIT”, so thought I might need set that up for the bit/material.
Nah.
I set that up but that did not result in the bit turing up in the bit selections for the job.
Better still, bugger If it makes sense how the cutting settigs from “PRO+ADD BIT” are applied to the job. Yes, there is a cutting settings options in the project, course and fine and edited in the project. But why if you can set user cutting settings under “PRO+ADD” you can’t list the user defined cutting settings from “PRO+ADD BIT” in your project. Yes, that means there appeared no means to select user cutting settings set in the “PRO+ADD BIT” from with the project.
As I just upgrade to PRO, and the project was done in FREE mode, who knows if that is a problem. I am going to try a fresh project.
Yeah, tried with a blank project but get the same result. The aim of the bit list seems more to push you out to a shop to buy bits, as opposed to adding bits to the project to simulate their cutting action. Any tools you create seem to sit in the “Toolbox”.
What is really handy is Easel - Easel Toolbox
You tell me, the easel website I am using does not work at all the same way as the “help” videos. Something is broken.
I think the issue you are having is it appears that Easel doesn’t support ballnose bits for 2.5D cutting (or normal operation). They are only supported in 3D mode.
I just added a ballnose bit and a compression bit to test, and the compression bit shows up at the top with other custom bits, but the ballnose bit does not. On the other hand, when I added a 3D model, I could now access my custom ballnose bit for the finishing pass.
Assuming this is the issue you are experiencing, you could always set your bit up as an upcut or downcut bit, but label it as a ballnose, and then you should be able to configure your own settings and use it. But Easel won’t treat it special, so you most likely won’t get the finish you are expected. It’ll just run the bit around as if it has a flat bottom.
Thanks for your assessment and time. There is always a work around and thanks for your insight on that also.
