I design and build electronics for various applications. I recently purchased a FoxAlien 4040XE CNC machine for machining short-run foam inserts for packaging. I don’t need complicated features but simply the means to cut out shapes in Plastozote sheet which are then glued into stacks. Easel seemed the perfect CAD-CAM solution until I discovered that I cannot specify toolpath direction, which means that external profiles are fine, but internal cutouts suffer unacceptable tear-out. This would not be the case if I could declare internal cuts to be made clockwise, so it’s goodbye Easel I’m afraid.
