2 part carve

Is my first attempt at a 2 part carve but now I’m lost - can anyone advise me on the next step?

Change your bits to something larger and press generate toolpaths? See what you get.

Did as suggested

candle bowl trial with easel finishing.nc (495.9 KB)

candle bowl trial with easel roughing.nc (876.5 KB)

does it mean I need to create toolpaths for top and bottom, left and right and have anchor points for each?

I would see what each gcode file looks like in a viewer. Then I’d decide what kind of fixture to put down on the machine to hold it in place so you can flip it over and do the other side.

This is a free Gcode Viewer.

is there a way to move the model so it the bottom sits flat on the bottom?

How to adjust 3D Model Orientation in Easel Software

You can also load the drawing into a 3d Cad program and flip it there.

I couldn’t influence its positioning. Can you confirm that I see it right that its not aligned with the table? I will not carve it with the bottom able to sit level to the table? which cad software would you suggest? can any CAD software import easel projects so I can position it and then open tah project to see it aligned?

Fusion360 seems to be the popular 3d cad choice these days but if you think Easel is hard, you’d probably go crazy with Fusion360. I clicked on Orientation -Back and made the “position” space between the cutting plane 0,0,0 and this is what it looks like. Which may or may not be sitting on the bowl bottom. Open it up and do the same thing and see what it looks like to you.

I used your settings but its not the same

You didn’t select “ Back” under orientation. Somebody who is a pro user should chime in. I’m not the pro user. Hit the red X ball to align it too.

you mean like this? How can we get a pro user?

Well it looks like I would think it is supposed to look. Did you generate the Gcode for it? Did you simulate the gcode in the Visualizer? If so… what did it do?

If anyone is a competent Easel Pro User…we could use some help here.

I have this after playing with a new project

whats another viewer?
