Batteries for LED strip 12 inches long?

Thanks Phil.

You dont have to engrave that depth. 0.01" is enough. The surface must only be “scratched” that it glows.
You engrave very fast… Nice.

mine is done with a 90 degree vbit at depth of .015 with my bosch colt at 100 ipm between 1 and 2speed setting.

In the past i engrave with 40 ipm with a 1mm bit and a cooling fan to the tip of the bit. It works great, if i go faster my cheap bit is broken. Without the cooling the acrylic gets melting.

So ill test your settings. Thanks

What Kind of v Bits you use? The ‘normal’ Router Bits or engraving v bits?

I have one of those ill have to try it

do you guys engrave the face or do you reverse and engrave the back? And can you flame polish poly carbonate?

Hey. I only engrave the back. Mirrored the Image.

You Can also flame polycarbonate, but same as acrylic, Before you flame deburr the area.

Nice that your succesful with the flame method.

Looks cleaner if engraved from the back.

With me it depends mine barely scratch the surface sometimes depending on what I do. I do alot on the front. People usually like to touch it. As that’s the first thing they do.

Easier fingerprint clean up when engraved from the back

what do you clean it with?

If you do an etch from the back, it doesn’t seem to shift brightness based on your eye position. At least from what I have noticed.

very nice

That looks great. Now that your first one is done…what have you learned and what would you do differently next time. With all of these edge lits being posted the last week I’m gonna try to make one based on what I’ve learned in these couple of threads.

Next time you’ll Design it, that the leg from the woman Goes up and down… You only need a second layer of acrylic with the bent leg, Put it behind the First, then install a second led and a small Controller that controlls it, it think it would be nice.

Your right, you need 3 layers.

I Designed a sign from a beer logo a few years ago with 2 different colores.

I just had a mental flash of the neon sign in the movie "Porkys " …

I think the shifting doesnt look so great from the whole picture…

Its only a suggestion for new projects.

If you do it with 3 layers, the first with the full carve without leg, the second with leg in position 1 3th with leg in postion 2.
You´ll put the led for the first layer on the bottom, 2 and 3th left and right without contact to the edge from the layer before, I think it would work.

@JkWestphal I must think of the Titty Twister from “From Dusk till dawn”
