Batteries for LED strip 12 inches long?

I was told one thing about acrylic and that’s all you have to to do is scratch it and that’s it. There’s no need to to go so deep into it

@MichaelWilcox that is definitely the truth.

Have you thought about having a frame all the way around? Then you could have an LED strip for each edge. You would be able to vary the intensity for each edge to get whatever effect you want.

It’s both. Light intensity falls off with the square of the distance and the carve causes refraction and reflection.

It all depends on the lights you buy

this is a set of different lights that I’m used to purchasing. This is a 12x12 that came out pretty good this broncos sign. I was just testing how bright the blue was

I did this one last weekend and the three colors came out nice and not much blending in

Let me ask you all something. When you mount the led strips, do you put them under the acrylic or next to it?

Got it. I was trying to figure it out from your images but was having a hard time seeing which way they were facing(eyes aren’t as good as I would like:slight_smile:) That makes sense as I don’t suppose you would want an acrylic panel sitting directly on top of a diode. Thanks for the quick reply.

OK so you can shine them in from the side or the bottom? Anyone know if one works better than the oter or is it more of a what works for you thing?

Have you tried lighting it yet? How’s it look compared to your other one?

I didn’t even notice the light in the picture. Looks real good and nice to see it only took 21 minutes to do.

I wish I had more time to work with my x carve. I am wondering what it would do if you were to paint the acrylic lets say white…engrave it…paint the engraving black…then lit it. Anyone try it?

@PhilJohnson I think I must claiming a patent for the “flame polish method”

Why Do you want to Do it? If you paint the engraving black the light cant go though. And If you grind the surface everything is lightning

So you ca buy colored acrylics and then take a led color you want.

I did see that…just wondering how it would do edge lighting somethinh like that.

Translucent paint for the part you want to light and non translucent for the background/non lit
