Fillet edges in easel

Is there a way to bevel/fillet the edges in easel. My design is relatively simple and have worked out everything except that. Hoping there is a way in easel to do it so I dont have to learn F360 right now (can do the model, but the cam part of F360 is a little more complex then I want to tackle).

Depending on the end goal, you could run a profile path with a v-bit for a chamfered edge and you could use a roundover bit for the fillet.

guess that might be easier just to pull the router out and do it by hand at that point

not necessarily. A profile cut with an appropriate depth isn’t that advanced.

but on the other hand it is good you think outside the box. Some of us tend to forget there exist tools outside of our cnc :see_no_evil:

I found it probably faster, and no need to guess feeds and speeds when just busting out the router with round over bit. haha

That’s a shame, Easel is an excellent and user-friendly tool for the machining I have attempted so far if not for the missing fillet tool.
A fillet tool in Easel would make it much easier to create specific dimensions for the fillet. I don’t necessarily want to be stuck with the precise curve of the router bit to cut a curve, and am perfectly fine with making many passes to get the curve I want.

I am actually considering Fusion 360 over many options largely because of their fillet tool.

Have you found the super gradient generator in the apps section? It can generate fillets in multiple passes like that…

That sounds intriguing, I had no idea there was an apps section, I will give it a try tomorrow!
Thank you @SethCNC!

Yup that is pretty great. I couldn’t figure out how to generate g code that properly compensates for using a ball end bit, best I can tell I could just put a ball end bit on a cut designed for a flat end mill but the cut will be slightly off of the design. The templates I am designing need to be rather precise.

The videos I found seem to imply that you just end mill more steps if you want to sand less. I mean, that’s a great workaround and I would probably do that if I didn’t have other CAD programs that do this without issue, but I can save cutting time and sanding time if I use the fillet tool with a ball nose bit in Fusion 360.

Thank you for the great idea, if I start using this professionally I will have some hard choices to make because F360 ain’t cheap =)

For anyone looking to do this, the app tab is located on the toolbar on the left side of the screen (click on the double arrows in the top left of the screen if you don’t see the tool bar. Click on the lego brick to see the app search screen and search for “Super Gradient Generator”.

Youtube has a great tutorial on this at How to Use the Super Gradient Generator app for Easel! - YouTube
