I am new to 3D carving this is my very first one I’m on my 3rd test board I fixed the bit settings so it’ll be faster for the test only in roughing . When it is finished roughing it goes back to the board 0 not the machine 0 isn’t there suppose to be a pop up that’s says install finishing bit ? What it’s doing to me is it goes back to board 0 and ends with completed was it good or bad of course I say good and it goes back to the project screen am I suppose to treat this as a second carve ? I thought I did something wrong Soni started it all again with the same results. Like I said I’m very new to using 2 bits. I would greatly appreciate any help I can get
Thank you !
For the record I use the Universal Gcode Sender after saving the Easel Gcode to a drive. 2 bit carves show up as two separate files, I’m gonna guess that after it finishes the rough carve it goes back to work zero and showing some type of prompt to start the finish file.
The thing is it doesn’t give me a prompt to change bits it just goes back to the project where I have to go through the whole carve thing clamp wood select roughing or finishing and so on….Thank you for your response at least I’m one step closer then I was.
Thank you got it now but one thing when it finishes roughing and goes back to home does it go precisely to its home position? Because if I have to re zero it to a finishing bit it has to be precisely where the roughing bit was and that’s not easy because the roughing bit is bigger in diameter and the finishing bit is much smaller where will be the exact spot to re zero the finishing bit ?
You can save your file as gcode which is text. You can open it in text editor like word or notepad. Look at the last couple lines of the roughing section. The Z will go up and then it’ll move the router most likely to X0Y0.
Whenever I do a rough and finished cut after my rough cut, the spindle returns to work zero and stop spinning. I am not prompted except for the notice to ask if my cut went well. You then change your bit and since you have no way of knowing the actual Z position because of the new bit being inserted you have to go through the set up again, but you only have to set up your Z Height so it knows how far to cut down deep. Then you move your selection over to your finished cut and proceed with a normal set up. Seems like extra steps, but it feels like it’s necessary since changing the bit will change your Z Work zero position.
Thank toy you explained it very well
Thanks again!
