How to make a duplicate in Cabinetmaker

Hello all, quick question; I’m am back to attempting to make cabinets for under my X-Carve Pro. The first two attempts were less than perfect (see my other posts on the limitations and how I overcame them). Today’s question revolves around duplicating the cabinet in cabinetmaker.
I have the original design and intend to make changes to it before attempting to do another build. HOWEVER, I do not want to lose the original design as much of it contains fixes and overrides and I do not want to lose any of that.
I know how to ‘Duplicate’ in Easel (click the three dots, then choose 'Duplicate), but have no idea how to do so in cabinetmaker, clicking the three dots gives one only a single option ‘Delete’.

Is there a way to duplicate a piece in cabinetmaker, and if so, can someone direct me to how and where?

Thank you

Joe

Hey Joe! If you want to duplicate the whole design, you can select the Menu and then select Duplicate This Design. This will create a copy of the design inside a new job.

Hope this helps!

Natalie

Thank you Natalie, that was exactly what I was looking for. I very much appreciate the help!
If I may bother you with another question; I’m making one of the cabinets with doors (to hold the computer tower for the x-carve Pro). As such, I would like to have a vertical divider at the center of the box (where the two doors meet) and have the shelf pin holes cut on both sides). I cannot seem to find an option for this. Does cabinetmaker allow for divided cabinets? And if so, could you point me to where to find this option?

Glad I could help!

There’s not currently an option for vertical dividers in Easel Cabinetmaker, but you may be able to add the divider as a follow-up step using manual tools or using Easel.

You could try exporting your cut lists to Easel after you’ve generated them in Easel Cabinetmaker. Once in Easel, you could add a dado to the inside faces of the top and bottom panels, and then create an additional panel on one of the workpieces for the vertical divider. This may be more of a challenge if you are using the blind dado box construction method, since the rabbets are cut into the outside face of the top and bottom panels so you would need to carve both sides of those panels.

Okay, thank you Natalie. I’ll just make it ‘old school’

Also noticed that there isn’t an option for drawers behind doors (unless I’m looking in the wrong place). I’d like to suggest that both options be considered for future updates.

Thanks again,

Joe
