Import of inkscape boolean path fill does not honor the unfilled portion

I am trying to carve a tiered post cap. which requires carving out fill patterns of decreasing borders. I have created a single SVG for each level but when I import the svg into easel it always fills the outer path completely which will carve everything

Change the cut mode to cut on path.

I think that you might have it set to Cut out a pocket.
