Okay, here is an odd one. I am having problems with the spacebar. What happens is that I hit the space barand it makes the space, but as soon as Itype the next letter, the space goes away and thetwo words become one.To be clear about two things, #1this ONLY happens on Easel. I have n\had no problemsin any other programs, or mail, etc… and #2, it does not happen with each time that I hit the space bar, I would say that it is about5-10% of thetimes that I hit the space bar.
I was considering editing the above, but thought it would be easier if you could see the problem in action. The examplesof wordsstuck together in this message are exactly what I am talking about. Again, this ONLY happens in Easel - I do not have this problemanywhere else. Note, it also happens with the’ente’ button, whereby I hit ‘enter’ to start a new paragraph, but as soon as I start typing, it moves my letter to the last letter typed*that is why this is one long run-on paragraph).
Is any one experiencing this problem?Does anyone have a solution?
I have this exact thing too.. if you start a word you need to be quick to finish it. I thought i was going insane for a few moments. I knew i pressed space but it wasnt there.
Weirdhey, but count me initisalittle annoyingisnt it.
Justalittle…
Yeah, something’s a mess here, and it was fine before. It appears to only affect the last word. My solution—until it’s fixed—is to hit ENTER
a few times and just type something, dashes or whatever, so there’s character’s past where I actually want to write.
Then you can write your comment and edit it freely until you are ready to submit. Then, just before you submit, delete the extra characters.
I’m using Firefox on MacOS, I don’t know if the browser is affecting the forum software. It probably would help if you mentioned your OS & browser just in case it’s device- or software-specific.
Screenshot of what I mean above:
I’m on my Samsungphone, no idea what the os is on these things anymore..Using the inventables app.
Well fellas, I believe that it is FAR worse than just annoying to type a message. I had a project COMPLETELY screwed up by Easel. The software appears to keep changing my settings. I posted this on another thread BEFORE I realized that the timing aligned with the start of this annoying space bar issue. In one case I needed to do a simple circle inlay. I cut out the female portion, and the that was obviously ‘clear the pocket’ then I cut the disc and it was set to ‘cut outside the line’. As always, i checked, and double checked, and checked again that I had everything set correctly (I’ve made more than my share of ‘Operator Errors’). When I hit ‘carve’, it carved the disc too small. I looked at the setting, and it was then set at ‘cut on path’… I NEVER MADE THAT CHANGE.
frustrated, I glued up a new board for a new disc, and quit for the day. The next day, after planing and prepping the wood to make a new disc, I went into easel to change the ‘cut on path’ to ‘cut outside path’ and to my shock, it HAD ALREADY CHANGED BACK to its original and correct setting- ALL ON ITS OWN !!??!!
I cut the new disc and it came out the correct size, again without me having ever changed that setting (??!!??)
This is only one example of the software constantly changing the settings unbeknownst to me… it screwed up the entire project.
It was a paid job, and was supposed to be delivered last Thursday. I explained the situation to the client, and I am now almost finished making a new one (new materials have eaten up any profit that I was scheduled to make on this project), and I am making it entirely by hand using hand tools and handheld power tools. This new replacement is estimated to take me HALF the time that I spent attempting to use the X-Carve Pro to make it.
In more than one case, I confirmed the settings before hitting ‘carve’, but it then screws up the carve, and I look, and the settings are changed (!!!)
If Inventables cannot fix this problem - and soon - I may rent a plane, fly my machine over their headquarters, and push it out of the plane over their building.
I had rebooted the computer, and rebooted the CNC multiple times. This has not helped. Several times, I simply could not get the computer to ‘connect’ to the CNC - meaning that the ‘carve’ button would not turn green.
It is in this situation that I find myself today - the cnc and computer simply will not connect today - at all - no matter how many times both are rebooted.
Time is money, and I’m having boith stolen from me right now.
signed ‘frustrated in Colorado’
(and ‘yes’ I edited the crap out of the above to put the spaces back in between the words where Easel had removed them - so as to make it easier for you to read)
I’m using Firefox on windows.
I am in communication with Inventables.
Read above for the bigger problems which I suspect are related.
TBH, I don’t think the forum issues are related to anything within the app. The forum is a generic forum, Discourse, which Inventables/Easel is most likely just using directly or hosting themselves.
Weirdly, HomeAssistant also uses Discourse, but I don’t have the typing issues there. I don’t know enough about Discourse to have much of an opinion beyond that.
I have the same spcebar problem….and I’m glad to hear it’s not just me!
Come on Inventables, this can’t be that hard to fix!
I am also experiencing the spacebar issue with Firefox. Less than two seconds after I stop typing, it deletes the last space or lines if I have pressed enter.
It’salittleannoying.
I do browse other forums that use Discourse, and I don’t have this issue, it is only on the Easel forum. So, there is a workaround for it, I just don’t know what it is.
