NEW: Tall pantries, vanities, and block-based cabinet customization (beta)

Hi folks,

We’re excited to announce a new beta feature in Easel Cabinetmaker, block-based cabinet customization! This lets you create a much wider variety of cabinets, including tall pantries, bathroom-style cabinets with drawers or shelves below doors, and more. We’ve included a few new templates in the :heavy_plus_sign: Add Cabinet dropdown:

Once you’ve added one of these cabinets, you can expand the “Blocks” section to resize, rearrange, and customize its shelves, doors, and drawers. You also can add or remove blocks, or change an element from one type to another:

Note that even the tall pantries are single cabinets built from a single box:

:warning: Beta warning: Since there are many new ways to combine blocks in a cabinet, we are still working to validate the construction of these cabinets in all configurations. Please use extra caution when manufacturing block-based cabinets such as by checking the wireframe and exploded view or double-checking measurements in the cut list.

If you have any feedback about the construction or the design and customization process for these cabinets, please share it here!

It would be amazing if the drawer fronts could be removed, and doors applied so it would be a cabinet with roll-out pantry drawers. Not sure if this is an option yet, but some configuration of drawers with hinge locations would be required.

Could you possibly allow for drilling of holes behind doors for undermount drawer slides in the same manner as shelf pins, equally spaced top to bottom of opening and drawers to be sized as per the designers height spec and quantities. Once assembling begins, drawer slides and hinges can be installed and offset by the person assembling, not putting it on the software to manipulate or manage?

Love the advancements so far!

look great! thanks for sharing

Is there a way to adjust the material thickness for the custom options? Example is I created a cabinet with 0.71" Birch Plywood and added shelves, but when the material list is created, it has the Custom “Shelf” at 0.75 inches material vs. the 0.71 I’ve put in. Thanks.

Hi @JimYongue, these cabinets were inadvertently missing the Shelves material settings—we’ve fixed this & you should now be able to set shelf material & thickness under the Materials section as with other cabinets:

Thanks for bringing this to our attention!

Love the customization here, can you add open drawers that look like this open pantry style?

I was curious if there is a way to adjust the 2 setting below in Cabinet Maker, such as a global setting that applies to the entire design?

1.Tab thickness, I am having issues with them tearing out when trying to move the plywood off of the table.
2.Depth of the adjustable shelf pins, the pins I have need a little deeper hole.

Thanks,
Jim
