I am getting very frustrated…I’m sure like all newbies. I have a program for a guitar neck carve. I ran 2 tests using mdf and they worked fine. I attempted a 3rd try using pine to try a 1st time wood run. The roughing process worked well, however, the finishing process began and within 1 minute, the machine cut through across the neck and got stuck within the center of the neck. Can anyone help? Not sure how to attach a photo of this carve. Any help would be appreciated. I’m running a FoxAlien Masuter 3s 4080.
You didn’t share the file publicly so that isn’t going to help. My process of carving necks goes like this: I have a file that cuts the perimeter of the neck outside the line first. That provides for cleaner edges on the carve. You may want to consider a rough cut file and go back home. Then go and load the finish cut file.
On a F*nder style neck, I do the perimeter cut and the peghead holes with a straight bit, and use a ball nose bit for the carve. I cut along one axis with the grain for less tearout.
