Supposed to be releasing this quarter or next, they’re still in preorder…
the major advantage to my mind is that the software is onboard (and runs it’s own server via local network for browser access), but that can be a drawback too. it does not seem to have the feed through of the Glowforge Pro though and is a good 1-2k more expensive.
@PhilJohnson here is a link for some opensourced designs like living hinges that you can laser cut and also some good reading about CO2 lasers for you. https://obrary.com/
My wife actually ok’d the purchase of my newest laser. She wanted me to make some Christmas ornaments for her friends and my original laser needed some TLC. (it was a cheap Chinese laser which actually was a great starter but I would continually tweak and upgrade it so I needed to “play” with it when I really wanted to use it.) Anyway she finally asked how much one would cost that I did not have to keep “playing” with each time I wanted to use it. I had my eye on my current 60 watt unit and she said that it would be my Christmas gift!
I’m sure just buying split rings in bulk is cheaper than the keychain version I linked to. I just thought it looks a little more finished, for lack of a term.
Different woods will burn in different colors. Turning up the amperage usually doesn’t make it darker, only recessed deeper.
An Ouija board I once did turned out pitch black. Don’t remember the wood though.
