So I design a piece & simulate, then download the file (g code). I upload the gcode into my BB Onefinity & run the file. Why do I need a post processor, and what am I missing by not having or using one?
A post processor creates the file with syntax that the controller can read. Many cnc’s use Grbl, but others do not. If you look at the Grbl guide I routinely post, you’ll see that some commands are OK, but others are not. Old School CNC’s will be able to use commands that GRBL doesn’t like.
Easel is providing the post processor for Grbl.
Thanks for answering. Are you telling me that Easel has the post processor embedded so that it is seamless & invisible?
If not then what benefits would I get from using a post processor when for 2 yrs have not missed having one?
Easel provides GRBL commands. CamBam for example will provide you with a variety of Post Processors for different CNCs.
Wiki can do a better job explaining it. If you only use Easel on a GRBL controlled Machine you won’t need another post processor. Post processor - Wikipedia
