Raised letters for a sign

I’m trying to figure out how to carve a sign with raised letters.

I never made a sign, but this was 5 minutes worth of work. Make a background, Make text. Center Them . Change cut paths and cut depths until the background is lower than the text.

The background was a circle set to clear out a pocket.

Greetings, PawPaw’s Workshop on YouTube did a series of video covering Easel. One of which was how to make raised lettering. It is well worth the watch if you have time. He does a great job explaining lots of scenarios. I see that you have some good advice already but just in case you need further clarification.

Be careful of height (or actually depth of the back cut) with smaller pieces. Many woods will not hang in there in small pieces. For example of the image of the cat on the previous response, that tail would probably chip off as you are cutting it and the ears certainly would. I use a 60 degree vee for the cutting the outside of raised objects when I can, and a fresh sharp bit! Good luck!.
