Two major issues when using Roughing followed by Detail pass.
Rough bit 1/4" downcut spiral, Detail bit 1/16" downcut
1.) Detail pass doesn’t clean up the Roughing Pass
2.) Detail pass cuts the outline from the blank. This should be done with roughing bit. Most detail bits aren’t deep enough.
I now use separate files in the project to address issue #1 and #2.
I’d like to use the roughing pass as a time saver for the detail pass. Ideally the Roughing Pass would be 0.1 shallower than final and then the Detail Pass would pick up at this depth and finish to final depth. With separate files, the Detail Pass does flyby until it gets to the depth that the Roughing bit finished. This waste a lot of time and unnecessary runtime decreasing productivity.
I could make the outline a separate file and this would solve the outline being cut by the detail bit. This wouldn’t solve the detail bit finishing at the same depth as the roughing bit.
Request: Make the Detail bit 's last pass being a finishing one to clean up the Roughing bit.
