Slicing a large file into small pieces

Hello!

I’d like to make something taller than my z-axis can carve.

What software tool can i use to make horizontal and/or vertical plane slices across a 3D file to make multiple files that i can glue together?

Bonus question - is there one specifically for 3d printing that provides physical connection points to assist with assembly?

Thank you!

In Rhino, you can use a “cutting Plane” to divide objects. If I were going to try something like that, I’d make some registration holes in waste areas to stick in some alignment pins to reattach things after they are cut.
