You can purchase them from Designs By Phil for $15
Thanks for the comment but I have not shared them because it is a branded item. I completely rebuilt the files in Easel. I stole the “Jeep” text grill and mountain off a google search
Thanks Neil! I shipped it out yesterday made it for a friends son in NC.
Made a knife switch for the shop several years ago, its pretty rough but works well so I spent some time making a file in Easel!
Any chance you would share the design for the knife switch? That looks awesome!
Its also in the projects section
Steve’s Knife Light Switch
Nope, this will be incorporated into a custom upholstery in a car, not even sure of the make an model as of yet, I can get there name in there I have sent him several pictures. Would have been nice to know that before I ran it though. Would of had more options. How do you light the edges up on that one? AND how did you make yours?
I use a 60° V bit (whiteside 1541)
Depth of cut is .02" with a feed rate of 100 IPM. and I never go over the lowest speed setting.
The round light standoffs in the picture are from outwater supply.
I also use light strips and place them in the base under the sign.
It all works very well.
Thanks Jan, so on the round one are the LED’s wrapped around the edge?
I think they are tucked into the stand-off that hold the acrylic.
Check out the link that was provided.
Hi Steve,
The round one has the stand off lights (from outwater supply) in the two upright post that hold the acrylic.
The wires run down each post to an electrical pocket in the base.
There they are connected to a 12 volt female plug that goes through the back of the stand.
The Harley sign has an LED light strip in the base under the edge of the acrylic.
I don’t know what software you use, (I use Vectric desktop) but if you want I will send you the designs.
I hope this helps.
Steve,
AS always your work is outstanding. I like the CPD Legend but everything is great.
Thanks Jan, no need to send files was more interested in how you lighted them. Thanks for sharing!
Sorry to jump in on the knife switch conversation, but I made a (ridiculous) version a few years ago.
@EthanKinney
It’s 3D printed, but worth sharing with you guys.
@NeilFerreri1 Now why’d you have to go and show me something like that! Now I’ll have to look into build a similar version!
Show off!
On Thingiverse if you want it. I lost interest after it worked. I had a version in my classroom at one point, so I could turn off the lights if I wanted to project something. Lasted about 9min in that setting.
