The drill tools snap point is not centered on its mid point

Hello,

Please tell me if there is a simple solution to this, but I could not find one.

I have some DXF files that contain cutouts intended to be drilled. I have imported them in to Easel, and my solution to make this work in Easel was going to be to use the drill tool to snap a drill hole to the centre of the shape, the original shape then gets deleted. The problem is, although I can indeed snap the drill crosshair to the centre of the shape, the snap point of the drill tool is not actually in the middle of the drill hole. It’s aligned to the side and bottom of the crosshair, therefore shifting the drill hole off centre.

I can place of course place the drill hole manually, but some of these files contain hundreds of drilled holes, and having them snap properly would save a lot of time. I am not sure how clearly I have explained my issue, so I have attached a picture below showing what I mean.

Try using a name brand center drill and not the ones from a discount wholesaler. #0 center drills have a 0.125 shank diameter. All twist drills are off center for a good reason. I usually get Sowa brand and get them from Thomas Skinner.

I wonder if you can use the align middle tool to move them?

Not middle, but center will do it.

Hi @DanielW, thanks for reporting this, we’ve fixed it:

The problem was with the way the crosshairs were drawn in the editor, so if you’ve already snap-aligned drill holes in your project you’ll likely find they’re already in the right place. (You can always double-check the center position in the Shape panel if you’d like.)

Incredible! Can confirm that is indeed fixed. That will save so much time with my projects. Thank you!
