Hello, I am trying to import a dxf file I bought off etsy and part of it is missing. I can open the file in vcarve pro and its all there. Why is it that easel will not work with all the info that is there? Is there anything I can do to fix this problem?
Thanks
Try dialing down the size of the bit to a smaller diameter and see if that helps.
i have 1/8 bit selected now, will try vbit
tryied vbit all that did is mess with the thickness of the parts that are there.
you see its a tool storage that is carved by a cnc. the person used vcarve to make said file, I downloaded vcarve and it loads up just fine. when I load in easel, it loads maybe half the carve and thats it. missing the parts were is carves out the individual parts.
If it’s possible, try saving the file as an autocad v12 dxf. I’d also try playing with a 1/32
straight bit and changing the depth of cuts, just to see if that makes a difference. Make sure the material thickness is correct and tool path is “on” the line, etc. You can manually change parameters too as opposed to the Easel version. Are the missing parts off the grid…or just not visible there.
half to carve is not there at all. I do not know if its just not visable. Like I said I open in vacarve and everything is there.
First I would run a simulation.
- Is any thing showing? If no simulation is shown, then your import failed so try again.
Is your material size set and how about tool size, hoe sbout depth of cut?

My DXF file import showed all the shapes, but they were combined into one object. I had to use the Xploder application to separate the parts so that I could set cutting to inside, outside, or on shape. Perhaps your DXF was written by a newer tool version and contains something the import filter doesn’t process correctly?
