What bits to useM

So I’m new to this and I’m trying to figure out what bits to use on this projects. Also how to speed up a project.
Where does everyone order bits from? I ordered from inventables but found they don’t have some of the bits listed on other people’s projects.

This is a good place for bits. You get what you pay for with them. You probably want a V bit to get into the corners . A straight bit to do roughing work. I’d get some common sizes like 1/8, 1/4, 1/2 and maybe a 60 degree and 30 degree V if you can afford them.

So right now i have the 1/8 straight end mill and 30 flute engravind bit. Just wanted to know if there was a better choice.

Your choice of bit is dependent on the object you are making. Larger diameter bits can remove more material. Smaller diameter bits can get into nooks and crannies. When you make your bit choices in Easel, you can see how bit diameter impacts the amount of time it takes for completion and how much detail can be cut with those bit choices. A 1/8" bit will have to do a lot of work and take a lot of time. If your sign is the size of a postage stamp, then it would work fine.

All above is good advice. I struggled with this for a good long while, but have settled on a few specialized bits.

If I want to remove a lot of stock, fast, try the bits from here: https://www.idcwoodcraft.com. I have had great success with the “Hog” and the “Beast” bits.

If I want good, all around quality of cut, I default to the Astra coated bit from Bits & Bits: Router Bits: Premium Whiteside Cutting Solutions

The more I cut, the more I use big bits rather than small ones, and the more I use a roughing pass AND a finishing pass. That being said, you can get good bits from many places, and the finish you get is directly related to your investment in quality. What that balance is for you, is something only you can decide. Enjoy!

I’m new to this too with a little fox alien Masuda pro that uses 1/8 bits and so that I learn I’ve been getting my bits of AliExpress and so far they’ve been working like a dream 12 bucks for a set of stainless steel not tungsten but I’m only doing light work Making signs carving out Horsey signs dog signs and images of the like so if you just want to do it to learn just go on the AliExpress or Amazon and you’ll get good ones for quarter inch when you get a bit more advanced upgrade to 500 W spindle And spending bit of money on bits that will make the project cut out so much quicker.
