Which cut is done first , three squares

I have a simple question I hope.

I want to have cuts done in order. I am using three squares laying on top of each other.

top square is 3x3 and cut depth is 0

second square is 4 x 4 with a cut depth of 1mm

third square is 5 by 5 with the cut depth going through the material.

I want the 3x3 untouched. the 4x4 routed first and the the 5x5 to cut it out.

Is this possible? thank you in advance and have fun with your projects. Tom

I’m not sure you can end up with a 3” square on top without cutting it at some depth. It would seem that you’d end up with the second square of 4”. I did this by drawing the squares to your sizes and using edit to send the large one to the back and the small one to the front. Then I centered them to each other. The cut depth is set individually for each square.

I do not understand your question’s intent. Could you send a side cross section sketch and what size is the base dimension size and height of the starting raw material? Are you trying to make a 1 mm deep pocket in a 4x4?

This is what I was looking for

sending the large one to the back and the small one to the front controls who gets cut I think I will try it. Thank you all for your replies and I’ll let you know! Tom

Draw your 4 x 4 square and set the cut depth to 1mm and clear out

Draw your 3 x 3 square and center both squares and set the cut depth to 0

Create a new cut panel from the lower panel

Draw your 5 x 5 square and match the center location to your previous 4 x 4 square. Set it to cut the outside cut and set it to the full depth.

This is a 2 cut process. First it will router out a 4” square with a 1/2” around all 4 sides of the 3” square. The second cut is on the next panel where it will leave 1/2’“ all the way around the 4” square cutting it through.
