If I were to use risers on my XCARVE 1000 then how would I be able to have extra travel on my Z axis?
Well it depends on how far down the router goes. You can also use a higher piece of flat material to raise up the work if said router doesn’t travel as far as you’d like. The idea of risers, in my opinion is to use thicker stock.
Martin is right. The Z travel is fixed by your router. To get more working travel you must update the Z axis lead screw and its frame to longer assemblies. The riser blocks only move the assembly up but do not change how far the spindle can move. It just makes it possible for you to work on bigger stock but does not change how far the spindle can move.
