Z axis not staying accurate

I havent run my machine for awhile since I was redoing my shop. I am back to running and my z axis will not stay a consistent height. I keeps raising higher and higher with every cut. I extended my motor cables so i could have my controller in a different area so i dont know if that could be a part of the issue (I wouldnt think so but just know it is something I have changed). The x and y axis motors were also extended and i havent had any differences with those. I have checked all of the set screws on the motor and all the wiring connections as well. When watching it go up and down it seems like it drops lower from time to time. I have the upgraded z axis as well so it is direct drive to the motor. any help with this would be great. I have had a similar issue awhile back but that was user error as i downloaded a new version of vcarve pro and for got to change the machine and post processor in vcarve.

Check that all your fasteners are tight and ensure your couplers are snug to motor shafts and what they are connected to. Check the tightness of the bit in the collet too.
