Z axis slide

Since the tariffs were put in place the slide I’ve been eyeballing (cnc4newbies) isnt available to ship to the US. Anyone have recommendations for the xcarve that will allow me to touch the waste board since I’ve already added my y axis risers. I’d like the inventables one to be available but I dont think theyre making them anymore

If you are handy, you could assemble a Z axis from parts from the former openbuilds company. They went belly up this year, but all the parts can be found on Amazon. The openbuilds machines are modular using thick aluminum plates. You would have to drill a few holes to make it work with the Xcarve. This is an example of a completed one.

BulkMan 3-d is the vendor in China who sells and ships this stuff. I’ve been very happy with the parts I purchased from them. There is also a Maker Store that sells the same stuff with A US warehouse.

Here is my machine as it was this summer. It’s fully functional now with an X controller. I’m going to change the couplers out and square it up again. I love it.

Now my setup here allows a bit to touch the wasteboard with a 2” space under the plate. I recently ordered a double plate with should allow me to have a 3.5” tall block of wood and still touch the table.

I should say that the open builds uses wheels but a different shape from the x carve wheels. Same diameter but fits extrusion differently. Check out the Openbuilds site, as the website and documentation is still up.

Thank you tremendously Martin, and apologies for the delayed appreciation. I will definitely look into these option!
